This is a novella that should be read after reading the first 2 books in the Knight’s Rebel series. River Savage took a completed different direction with this novella. As the reader might remember from the first 2 books, Nix and Kandance are now married and have baby on the way; this is where the novella picks ups. Fast-forward about 11 months. Baby Harlow is here but Kandance isn’t bouncing back after her birth; she doesn’t feel like she has connected with Low Nix is very concerned about Kandance; she is now only a shadow of her previous self. Nix begs Kandance to let him help her. He even goes so far as to have a “meeting” at the compound to try and force to take care of Harlow. The book follows Nix’s and Kandance’s journey through post-partum depression and working on their relationship.
I thought this was a well-written book dealing with a sensitive subject. Savage presents what I feel like is an accurate account of how post-partum depression affecting the whole family. Although not a traditional Knight’s Rebel’s book, I enjoyed reading it.
