Untamed (Thoughtless #4) is the latest of the Thoughtless series by author S. C. Stephens. It can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend reading the whole series, because trust me; you don’t want to miss out on the deliciousness that is Kellan Kyle, the lead singer of the D Bags. Untamed is the bassist for the D Bags, Griffin’s book. Griffin has had enough of what he thinks is being treated poorly by his band mates. Without consulting Anna, his wife who has recently had their second child, Griffin makes a life altering decision that affects the whole family and the D Bags family as well. Although Anna has reservations, she decides to put her faith in her husband and trust. Griffin finds himself struggling to follow through on his promises to Anna which he finds himself faltering with. Griffin must do some sole-searching and make some tough decisions when the world as he knows it, crumbles down around him. Will he ever be the man he once was to Anna and find his way in his new world?
Untamed was a wonderful book. It was different than the other Thoughtless books but still very enjoyable. One of the biggest differences I felt was the humor in the book. S.C. Stephens nailed the character of Griffin with his humor and one-liners. Her writing really made the character of Griffin come to life. I loved him, I hated, I wanted to kick him, and hug him. She created Griffin to be a real asshole but still loveable, especially as the character grew. Another thing I really liked about this book was Griffin’s love and admiration for his wife Anna as well as his two children. He really did think that they were the most wonderful, important people in the world (his judgment and choices weren’t always spot on when making decisions for the family but he was trying to make Anna proud of him and not let her or the kids down). Through Stephens’s writing, Griffin really grew throughout Untamed. He began as an immature adult, almost a high school immaturity, to a man that his wife, kids, family and band was proud of. If you only read one book of the series, this would be it (but seriously, don’t do that; you have to meet Kellan Kyle).
S.C. Stephens is a bestselling author who enjoys spending every free moment she has creating stories that are packed with emotion and heavy on romance. Her debut novel, Thoughtless, an angst-filled love triangle charged with insurmountable passion and the unforgettable Kellan Kyle, took the literary world by storm. Amazed and surprised by the response to the release of Thoughtless in 2009, more stories were quick to follow. Stephens has been writing nonstop ever since. In addition to writing, Stephens enjoys spending lazy afternoons in the sun reading fabulous novels, loading up her iPod with writer's block reducing music, heading out to the movies, and spending quality time with her friends and family. She currently resides in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her two equally beautiful children. |
