In Twisted Affair, Vol. 1, we meet Blaine Westmore….his name alone says it all; rich, spoiled, party boy Blaine has got into trouble again. Blaine’s father is not happy with him. His father gives him an ultimatum: get a job, get married, and settle down or you are cut off. Blaine’s father has the perfect girl picked out for Blaine which will also bring two big businesses together. Blaine, not one to be told what to do finds himself in a little hole-in-the-wall bar one night. After waking up the next day, Blaine thinks he has found the perfect solution to his problem with Czech bartender Livie who was helped him the previous night. Livie and Blaine strike up a deal; they marry and meet the conditions his father has set but they do not sleep together-their relationship as man and wife is all for show.
Parker’s writing lives up to the title of this latest book. She sets the stage for what readers can only hope with truly be a twisted ride. Parker’s writing paints a perfect picture of rich, playboy Blaine and the one-track, business mind of Livie. Of course, Parker leaves the reader wanting more as she is the queen of cliff-hangers and this is only part one of a five part series. She had me hooked and wanting more Blaine and Livie.
Twisted Affair, Vol. 2 finds Blaine finding a new side to his wife; she has suddenly gone back on her no sleeping together rule and Blaine is pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, Livie can’t understand why Blaine thinks he can touch her and try to kiss her all-of-the sudden. Livie can’t believe that Blaine is claiming they slept together; she knows that the most certainly did not. Livie turns to her twin sis Katka for advice. Blaine can’t figure what is going on with his new wife; one minute she is hot and the next minute she is cold.
In Vol. II, the reader reads points-of-view from Katka which is a new development. Katka was against Livie marrying Blaine as she had heard his bad reputation. This book is full of more twists and turns that had me as a reader, trying to figure out what was going to happen next and if I could guess where Parker was going with her story. My-oh-my….wait until you read the end of this book!
From the depths of M.S. Parker’s twisted mind, Twisted Affair, Vol. 3, finds Blaine has now realized that he had been sleeping with his wife’s twin sister. He knows it is wrong, he doesn’t want his father to find out and pull their money agreement, but Blaine just can’t seem to stop himself. He finds himself becoming in more enthralled with Katka every minutes he spends with her. Blaine feels bad that he is cheating on wife Livie but he can’t seem to stay away from Katka; in fact, he thinks that he is falling in love with Katka. Katka is the complete opposite of her twin sister Livie. Originally, Katka was going to meet with Blaine to prove to her sister that he was no good but suddenly finds herself attracted to him and sleeps with him. Vowing to stop it from happening again, Katka finds she can’t control herself around Blaine and Blaine feels the same way about Katka. Even though both Blaine and Katka feel bad about what they are doing to Livie, will they stop seeing each other?
Vol. 4 continues with Blaine and Katka continuing to sleep together. Yes, the both feel bad but apparently not bad enough to actually stop. Livie has feeling that something is going on between her sister and Blaine, and she suddenly regrets her “no sleeping” together stipulation wishing she was the one sleeping with Blaine. Livie graciously steps aside to let Blaine and Katka so that they don’t have to hide their relationship from her and sneak around anymore. Livie leaves Blaine a note telling him that she will honor her agreement and stay married to him for the required time set forth by his father; when Blaine finally realizes she is gone he can’t find her. Katka has finally broken up with him because she felt so bad what they doing behind her sister’s back. Blaine is “wifeless” and “girlfriendless” unable to contact or locate either sister. Blaine hires a P.I. to track down the sisters. The P.I. has some astounding information Blaine and it is the biggest twist yet!
I think that Vol. 5 is the hardest review to write….I don’t want to give anyone reading this review any spoilers. I think this book really made me love the character Blaine; before I had thought of him as a dirt bag sleeping with his wife’s sister. He really became an empathetic, caring human in this book. After his P.I. reveals what the big “twist” from Vol. 4 regarding Livie and Katka to Blaine, he really mans-up. The shocking information Blaine receives does not make him turn and run the other direction from Livie. It is at this point that Blaine takes him marriage vows to Livie seriously. Blaine’s dad is ready to give Blaine an out to the original agreement that he must remain married for at least 3 years. It is at this point that Livie once again stands-up to Blaine’s dad telling him what a good man Blaine is; Blaine takes a cue from Livie and also stands-up to his father, refusing to leave Livie. I think that Vol. 5 is my favorite of the series because of changes Blaine has made. He is no longer selfish; he truly cares about Livie.
I really enjoyed this whole series and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a real mind fuck.
