He didn’t ascend the two steps up to the raised floor I was on, so we were now more or less of similar height. It was a little disconcerting he was still taller, even at my advantage.

I didn’t answer; I simply sauntered back onto the dance floor. I glanced over my shoulder and offered him a coy smile. Acis had scared the poor young guy away.

I started the slow sway of my hips, keeping my eyes pinned to my avid admirer. His eyes tracked my movements. The sway of my hips, the bend of my knee, the curve of my waist. Slowly, he walked toward me with the prowl of a dangerous animal ready to capture his prey. I expected him to wrap his arm around my body and pull me against him, but instead, he lifted his hand and hooked his finger under my chin and ran his thumb over my bottom lip.

“You’re a dangerous woman, pixie-girl.”

I didn’t speak; I simply stared into his eyes and wrapped my lips around his thumb and sucked it into my mouth, licking the pad before slowly releasing it. His eyes flared and his extremely long lashes battered against his cheeks like butterflies trying to escape. Finally, his thick arm banded around my back and lifted me up against him, my feet dangled near his shins. There was no finesse in the way I crashed against him—as I said, I was clumsy. But the heat of his skin burned against me, igniting a desperate need inside me. I pressed my hands against his chest and curled my fingers into the fabric, anchoring myself to him as he pressed his hips against mine and started a slow sensuous rocking. With each wave of movement, my stomach tightened as his hips and hard-on pressed perfectly against me. I parted my legs slightly, allowing him to slide his thigh between my legs. His hand caressed my waist as it slid down my side, over the small of my back, to cup my arse. He pressed against me, bringing me tightly against his hardness. I closed my eyes and a small moan escaped me as electric pulses throbbed through me.

The scratch of stubble against my cheek and the hot warmth of his breath made me shiver violently.

“I want to feel, touch, and taste your skin, Pix,” he whispered against my ear, the seductive baritone of his voice shattering any protests I may have had. Which I didn’t. I tightened my fist in his shirt, certain I was nipping his flesh.

My 4 Star Review

Nathan is a hard-core, self-made business man. Focused on fulfilling his dreams since 16, he had worked hard to get where he is. He doesn’t have time for relationships; he strictly has women that he sleeps with. Preparing for a charity function, Nathan’s cousin is supposed to escort him but she is not who he opens his door to. Samantha has stepped in to take Nathan’s cousin place as his escort. Samantha and Nathan feel an instant connection.

Samantha’s and Nathan face-paced journey continues while they work together to bring down Dr. Wise, a crooked cancer doctor. There are many truths uncovered throughout the story as well as the love story of Samantha’s and Nathans’s.

This is a well-written story that moves quickly. I was able to read it in one setting. Nathan’s Choice by CK Long is the first of the Impeccable Choices series with Samantha’s Choice set as the next book.

My Review:
Chasing Perfection, Vol. IV is the fourth book of the series. It picks up right where the third book left off. Krissy and DeVon finally have their happily-ever-after or do they? A surprise from the past sneaks up on DeVon. He tries to deal with this situation on his own without involving Krissy. Krissy can tell that something is wrong and sets out herself to figure out what DeVon has been hiding from her. This problem almost ends Krissy and DeVon’s relationship.

Ms. Parker’s fourth book is as hot as the first three. There is lots of scorching scenes between Devon and Krissy; these two characters have off-the-charts chemistry. Besides the chemistry, the relationship between DeVon and Krissy has begun to mature and develop; Devon truly loves Krissy and she is the only woman for him. I would definitely recommend reading the previous books before picking this one up although it could be read as a stand-alone. I think once again, Ms. Parker has outdone herself.
This is definitely a 5 star read!

About The Author

I live in Morgan Utah with my husband, daughter, and dog, Kolo. I write as often as my active daughter will let me and my husband has the patience of a saint. I find inspiration from dreams, people I meet, and life experiences. When I write, I usually end up drinking one too many cans of Peace Tea, eating three too many Fruit by the Foot fruit snacks, and accidentally kicking my pup and best buddy, Kolo, too many times since he loves to sleep under my desk at my feet. I started writing as a teen, but my fear of the unknown won out every time and I threw everything out. After becoming a mother and deciding to stay at home to raise my beautiful little girl, I tried again when I couldn't stop thinking of ideas. A stolen kiss...
[...]I was wearing a yellow sundress and clutching the handle of my guitar case. Eagan offered to carry it for me, but I shook my head, for he was already bearing the weight of his huge backpack.
A part of me was glad he hadn't been able to hear me play. The piece I had chosen was an acoustic cover of one of my favorite rock songs. The acoustic version was utterly sentimental; it expressed perfectly the way I felt about Eagan. After my performance, all my professors and fellow students admitted that they'd never heard me play with so much feeling. I wasn't certain I wanted Eagan to discover that part of my soul yet.
We embraced awkwardly. I noticed that his eyes were red and tired. I also remarked that he was tanned and that he smelled good, as always. Of course, I didn't reveal my sentiments.
It was a bright summer day. We went to a park, we sat, we didn't talk much. After a while, Eagan lay back and fell asleep.

I watched him rest for a few moments, then I reclined alongside him. I placed my body very close to his, so that I could feel his heat through the thin cotton of my dress. His handsome face was turned toward me and his lips were slightly parted. Flecks of gold dotted his beard stubble and his dark blond hair.
I braced one of my hands on his arm and the other one on his muscled chest, then I leaned toward his face, keeping my eyes open. I let my mouth linger over his and breathed his breath then, finally, I whispered a kiss across the side of his mouth, then I licked his upper lip. I waited. He didn't stir. So I closed my eyes and brushed his lips with mine once more. I became greedy. My tongue pressed between his parted lips and stroked his tongue once, twice and then again until I moaned and an unbearable ache surged between my legs.
My fingers gripped his sweaty T-shirt. I kept kissing Eagan until he groaned softly in his sleep.
“I love you,” I murmured against his lips.
I moved away from him. I forced myself to stand, I grabbed my guitar case and I left.

My Review ~ 4 Stars

A Veil of Glass and Rain an emotional journey between two friends that eventually become lovers. Briana and Eagan first meet when she was 9 and Eagan was 14. The bond that sears them together are the fact that both their parents are photographers and that are totally devoted to each other. Through their parents Briana and Eagan find themselves with the pleasure of each one's company through many years. Eventually, as adults, Briana and Eagan find themselves both living in the beautiful city of Rome, each trying in their own way to develop what has always been present to that of lovers.

This book is very beautifully written. I would venture to say that it is not the what I would consider "normal" written romance book. Saying that, don't give up on reading this book; it is definitely worth the effort The book is such that it is written in almost a free-verse poem. Readers are lucky enough to see how the story develops through the eyes of both Briana and Eagan. I found myself intertwined into Briana and Eagan lives, rooting for a love that has always existed.
