Life Next Door (Love Not Included #2) by: J.D. Hollyfield Publication Date : November 3, 2014 Life Next Door Life in a Rut, Love Not Included Where my normally Saturday paper awaits me I see it is gone. What the shit? I look for it, and see it’s jammed in the front bushes that lay again the porch wall. “Seriously this new paper boy needs a lesson in straight shooting.” I grumble while I bend over digging through the bush to grab the paper. “Doing some early morning gardening?” There is this voice that comes from behind me. One that I unfortunately connect with Mr. WTF is he doing out right now!? I am frozen with my head in a bush. I register all the options I have right now, and all of them consist of me straitening and turning around. In my robe. Damn you world. “Um no just looking for something. Thought I saw a cat. No worries here.” I ramble into the bushes. Please go away. Please go away. His voice seems a bit closer, which does not sit well for my self-esteem right now. I mean I personally think my robe is dope but to be caught in it by this guy, I’m starting to wish I ditched Pinkie Pie pony when I was fourteen. “Want some help?” I hear from behind me. “Nope. All good!” I sound a bit panicked. He needs to beat it and like right now. My back is starting to cramp and my legs are about to give in and send me tumbling face first into the greens. I’m not even sure why he is being so normal with me. I’m pretty sure I was not very nice to him less than twelve hours ago. That smooth voice steps even closer. “Well why don’t you let me take a look. I’m pretty talented in digging through a good bush to get to the prize.” Oh hell no he did not just innuendo me! Digging through my bush. Dream on pal, I stand straight and whip around to face him and holy shit. “Holy shit.” I let spill out of my mouth. Pretty much around the same time he jumps back and spits out, “Holy Jesus.” “Jesus is right! Do you ever wear a shirt?” I ask like seeing his budging biceps is an insult to my drooling eyes. “Yes, I do but when I’m running and sweating it tends to be pointless.” He steps closer to me and I swallow my tongue. Anything else I was going to bark out stops completely and his close proximity shuts it down. Why is this guy having such a dizzying effect on me? “So…” He begins with that purr to his tone. Seriously a purr? Who purrs while they talk?! “Do you always walk around in a kid’s robe and all that green gook covering your face?” Insert jaw drop and gasp. There is nothing like forgetting, while having a stare down, two feet from your too hot for his own good neighbor, that you are wearing a god damn seaweed mask. Die cruel world. Turning on my stool at the island in the middle of the kitchen, I looked over into the seductive hazel eyes of my Pingu, my penguin, my soul mate. She looked sexy as hell. Her hair was all dishevelled from sleep, her short nightdress and robe were crumpled and she had that innocent, just woken up expression. She was so beautiful and I thanked my lucky stars every day that fate had pushed us together. “I couldn’t sleep,” I murmured, shrugging like it was no big deal. “Because of me,” she stated, and started nibbling on her bottom lip. “Craig, I’m sorry.” “Baby, come here.” I opened my arms to invite her in. As she stepped between my thighs, I placed my palms on either side of her face, and angled her head to look into my eyes. “You have nothing to be sorry for okay? I won’t pretend that what you told me last night doesn’t hurt like hell, because it does. But I understand why you feel that way. I am going to prove to you every day that I'm here for the long haul, though…as your husband.” Before she had a chance to retort I pulled her lips to mine, drawing her into mind obliterating passion so that all she could think of was us and how good we were together. He has decided to not live his life his parents’ life but choosing to become his own person not influenced by the almighty dollar. Brock also asks Piper to move back to Philadelphia. As Julien and Piper deal with a very drunk Brock, then begin to talk and find that they enjoy each other’s company. Piper invites both men to her house for dinner. Things begin to change when Piper overhears Brock telling the true story of what happened the night of Reed’s bachelor party. Julien decks Brock and Piper kicks him to the curb. Lastly, Reed shows up to present Piper with a little gift that could change her whole life. The day for Pipers’ dinner with Reed arrives. Piper bravely tells Reed that they can’t have a relationship; he had just been her teenage dream and she was in love with someone else. After dinner, Piper swings by Julien’s apartment to tell him how she feels. When Julien answers the door fresh from a shower, Piper sees a women with a towel around her. Hurt and confused, Piper takes off. Julien finally catches Piper is able to share his feels (which are the same as Pipers) and the two end-up together. Sinful Desires I-V was a fast-paced interesting story. There was a little bit of everything-love, friendship, teenage dreams coming true, lies, which all made for a spectacular love triangle. The books were well-written and had interesting characters that came alive with Ms. Parker’s writing. Each book is approximately 100 pages which I read the entire series over an afternoon. This series needs to be read in order and is an added bonus if you are able to read them all at one time. I enjoyed this series as I have enjoyed Ms. Parker’s other books. I would give this series 5 stars and recommend that it be a must-read on anyone’s list. * THREE WINNERS: $10 AMAZON GIFT CARD * M. S. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I felt the story line was good and realistic; Ms. Ashby’s characters where real and experienced real problems. After about the half-way point of the book, I felt that there were a couple of things just thrown-in to try and make the book more interesting and have more conflict. I felt that the book probably would have been just as good without these things but overall, I enjoyed When You Make it Home. 5 Stars Claire Ashby was born and raised in the heart of Atlanta. When pain feels like love, how does love feel? Along with romance, love, and erotic pleasures of a more traditional nature, this work includes scenes of sadism, masochism, and sex acts involving multiple and same-sex partners. For mature readers only. Excerpts – Book I, A Gift for Jarrod Book I, Excerpt 1: Jarrod had lost track of the changes underway inside his mind and body. He reacted to light strangely, as if it brought the comfort of food or a warm touch even when it was simply the removal of the blindfold. He became accustomed to the loss of control of his body as he was shackled to his bed at night, no longer pissed when he wanted, no longer held his own penis to do so, no longer even shat without someone in attendance. He ate like an animal off the plate they placed on the floor, food that was unrecognizable although flavorful and evidently nourishing. There were daily parades into rooms where people waited, all of them masked. He stood with other naked submissives as the masked people chatted, drank, nibbled on hors d’oeuvres, occasionally casting their eyes in his direction, occasionally stroking his body and the cock that strained in front of him. After a first few times of shivering humiliation and terror, he took their glances, their touching, as reassurance. His worry that they might know him, recognize, spread gossip about what they had seen, slowly subsided into the greater submissive state of mind that fed his constant arousal. No longer questioning his decision to come here, his thoughts now focused on the current situation, the moment in which he existed, whether his attention was captured by the lash or the ever larger plug in his anus, or the engorgement that plagued his genitals. The people who serviced him had become objects of his affection—he wanted to kiss Sal who nightly administered to his fracturing body, the woman who slipped her hand over his cock each morning to help him piss. Everything excited his senses. He’d never felt so alive. Yet for all the arousal, he had not been allowed to have another ejaculation. The need to release had slipped to the background, no less urgent, no less achingly painful, but one of those things he endured like he endured the beatings. He felt like a stringed instrument, increasingly tuned to a finer and more exquisite tension, waiting for the right moment, the right hand, that would turn him into a beautiful song. ~~~ Book I, Excerpt 2: Macie’s fears about the effect of Jarrod’s training had not abated. There was more to be treasured in Jarrod Bancroft than for him to spend the rest of his life a gentle submissive. She sensed this must be a phase, a trial by fire that he sought on his path to greater pursuits. Surely driven by raw instinct, she realized. No one sits down and figures these things out. Her own instincts guided much of what she did in providing the fierce domination these masochist submissives craved. Yes, she’d read all the books. Gone through the experiences, struggled to accept what she was. The Marquis would be proud, she smiled to herself. Yet something of Jarrod demanded more. She sat, her eyes feasting on his physical perfection, the stunning face with its rugged features, the athletic fullness of his young male body, the proud bearing of his magnificent cock. Even at this moment, in spite of the training, the beatings, the hours of servitude to the various punishments her staff had bestowed, he held onto a certain regal bearing. That too must be stripped away, she knew, if he was to gain what he most desired. ~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~My Review~~~~~ Let me first begin by saying that I loved the Jarrod Bancroft series by Lizzie Ashworth. Almost immediately I felt the story was good and it had me hooked. We meet Mistress Macie Fitzgerald who trains those seeking pain and submission. She has proudly built The Academy to be one of the premier, elite BDSM training facilities. While looking through applications to The Academy, Macie discovers that a former student of hers from her days of teaching high school history. Jarrod Bancoft now 27 has come highly recommended by Macie’s mentor and close friend, Chris. Everything has always come easy for Jarrod; coming from a wealthy family, graduating from law school with honors and now a top position at his dad’s company. But despite all his success, Jarrod feels like he is missing something. Book 1 follows Jarrod training by whom he realizes is his former teacher Ms. Fitzgerald, who he used to have fantasies about. The reader follows along with Jarrod as he completes his training at The Academy and he and Macie sub-come to their mutual desire and attraction. 5 Dominant Stars Excerpts – Book II, Jarrod’s Valentine, Jarrod’s Spring Break Book II, Excerpt: Fortunately, Macie’s attempt during those weeks to leave the Academy’s day to day operation to Mark had not succeeded. The man simply couldn’t multi-task. She didn’t know what she’d been thinking anyway. It wasn’t just Chris pointing out her unique qualifications for her role here. Without her hands in Academy business, she had too much time to obsess about Jarrod. To indulge in him, savor him, memorize every inch of his incredible body. To become utterly charmed by his sense of humor and his goddamn quick mind. Christ! She shifted in the chair. The simple memory of some of those moments—hours, days—made her squirm. Her fervent hope, once she came back to her work, was that Jarrod would lose his special place in her attention. Well, that hadn’t worked out. So now, Dr. Brandon and the torture of psychological analysis. She stared blindly at the computer screen where an applicant’s form waited her review. If she excelled at anything, it was to pile up projects so deep that she had no fear of running out of things to do. By all rights, Jarrod should occupy less than ten percent of her time. No, he should occupy none of her time. The Academy should be front and center. Enough. In addition to overseeing the construction roaring along outside, she was working through applications for the August class, a promising array of men and women eager to learn more about this hidden world. The current class was up for graduation in another week. They’d been a relatively routine group, twenty students pursuing the finer points of submission. Aside from pushing trainees through the harsh realities of their chosen fetish, beginner classes heavily stressed the “do no harm” axiom that served as the bedrock of any legitimate training course. So at least, however they might muddle through their future efforts, she felt reasonably confident no one would get hurt. That was her job. Students paid for her experience, her attention. Instead, they were getting fragments of her while her attention kept disappearing into daydreams about Jarrod. Things had been a hell of a lot simpler before he ever appeared on the Academy roster. What the hell was she going to do? Jarrod slipped in her office door silently and placed the mug of steaming coffee at its exact spot on her desk, then stepped back and waited. Her gaze raked over his form, the youthful flush on his skin, the lean, perfectly developed muscle across his chest, shoulders, and arms, the sinewy hands that had pleasured her so many times. She stifled a sigh as her body responded instantly to his presence. His silent request didn’t go unnoticed. He knew better than to push too far, but he was pushing. She could feel him. Well, she would definitely not reward him this morning. Her stare slid down the rippled abs, tracking the narrowing line of dark hair that trailed down from his belly button. She let her glance linger on the purplish hue of his cockhead and licked her lips, instantly aware of a hitch in his breath. He knew what a temptation he presented and didn’t fail to take advantage. Not for the first time, her glance at his compelling face found a disciplined submissive with only the tiniest curl at the corner of his provocative mouth revealing the insolent rebel lurking inside. It was more than she could stand. “Come around,” she motioned impatiently, pointing to the side of her chair. Great. Break your rules as fast as you make them. She was helpless around him. And hopeless. Ridiculous. He moved immediately to position and she knew without looking that the curl at the corner of his mouth had grown slightly larger. Ignoring the need to discipline his attitude, she yielded to her desire and reached the tip of her tongue to the hot skin of his swollen glans. His familiar musky scent swarmed through her nose as she licked the tight surface. Gooseflesh erupted down her arms and her energy clicked up a couple of notches. His body heat radiated against her forehead. Nothing beat the taste of cock in the morning. ~~ ~~~~~My Review~~~~~ Book 2 in the Jarrod Bancroft series is three month after Jarrod has completed his training. He has become Macie’s full-time sub and loves it. After some questionable business comes to light in his father’s company, Jarrod has quit his job. Macie on the other-hand is questioning her feeling toward Jarrod worried that she might be letting him into her heart after she vowed she would never do again after the tragic death of her first husband. As Macie is struggling to decide her and Jarrod’s relationship, Jarrod is subpoenaed to testify regarding the questionable activities at his father’s company. When Jarrod needed Macie the most, she pulls away. Then something happens to rock both Macie’s and Jarrod’s world. 5 Spanking Stars Excerpts – Book III, Day in Paradise, Homecoming Book III -- Excerpt: As the trainees lined up in small groups at each of the tables, Macie turned to walk away. Her gaze landed squarely on Jarrod who stood rigid in the doorway, his eyes snapping fire. Her breath caught in her throat. She surveyed his lean frame, no longer thin, not haggard, his muscled body instantly familiar in jeans and a white dress shirt with thin blue stripes. The sleeves were rolled halfway up his forearms. For a second, it felt like nothing had changed and they would go home and tear off each other’s clothes. Damn, how could she forget the impact of his heart-stopping good looks, his cocky stare? Her nipples bunched. A bolt of electricity spiked down her belly. If he had given the slightest inclination, she would have followed him to the nearest bed. Truly, she didn’t trust herself to speak. Instead, she stood paralyzed, hoping yet dreading what he had to say. “A word,” he said brusquely, cocking his head toward the hallway. She followed him, already positive that whatever he came for, it wasn’t to reunite. On top of his natural predatory grace, his body emanated an elevated level of tension. He didn’t wait for her or make any effort to walk alongside her, and she followed nervously as he marched along three steps ahead. They walked to the outside patio that opened from her office, the entire distance a nightmare of worry, anticipation, and blind hunger. He stopped in the middle of the patio and turned. His intense blue stare quickly surveyed their surroundings. Construction noise echoed across the open field. In the distance, the tree line hummed with summer insects and birdsong. Above, a few white clouds hung in a deep azure sky. His short black hair glistened in the sun and a whiff of his scent penetrated her nostrils. Dear God, she didn’t know how she lived without him. She wanted to press her lips against his, trail her kisses down his neck, down his chest. Thread her fingers through his thick hair. Her hands longed to hold his wide shoulders, caress his strong arms, pull his hips against hers. The need for him strained like a tight cord between them so that she had to steer herself to one of the chairs and sit with her hands gripping the armrests in order to keep from touching him. He made no effort to touch her. He turned and sat across from her, leaning forward with a dark expression. “Are you aware you’re under watch by the F.B.I.?” he asked without prelude. ~~~ Add to Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22854927-jarrod-bancroft https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22744556-jarrod-bancroft-book-ii https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22744569-jarrod-bancroft-book-iii Buy Links Rafflecopter <a id="rc-93fa090110" href="http://www.rafflecopter.com/rafl/display/93fa090110/" rel="nofollow">a Rafflecopter giveaway</a> <script src="//widget.rafflecopter.com/load.js"></script>
Until recently, sex scenes in most books erupted behind closed doors. I hated that fade-to-black point in a story. Why has it been acceptable to describe the details of violence, hate, fear, anger, and greed, but not the up-close-and-personal descriptions of touch, desire, and love? I feel fortunate that modern sensibilities in publishing mean sex scenes now keep the bedroom door open. For those of us interested, stories can show readers the tingle of flesh and follow through to the heavy breathing and sweaty finish. It's about damn time. I like to show a process in my stories where discovery or acknowledgment of sexual pleasure or desire is key to character development. Just like in real life. I believe sex can be a truly transformative experience. Reading has been a passion in my life. My bachelor's degree as well as some graduate work focused on writing. Marriage, children, and a career limited my writing time for many years, but I'm back to life on my own terms now. So look out--more sexy stories on the way! The last book of the series we find Jarrod in a precarious situation. This book is somewhat difficult to review because I don’t want to give anything away. I by far felt this was the best book of the three and trust me, if you read books 1-2, you will definitely be reading book 3. Again, Ms. Ashworth’s writing didn’t disappoint with her writing and story of Macie and Jarrod. She does not just focus on the BDMS parts of the story but she makes the reader care about the characters their relationships outside of the bedroom. 5 HEA Stars “I’ll wait forever, sunshine. I loved you then. I love you now. I’ll always love you.” Former Navy SEAL Travis Blake is a rising star in the security business. In two short years, Blake Security Inc. has become highly sought after by the who’s who in Washington DC. But unbeknownst to many, Travis is haunted by the mysterious death of his wife three years before. He carries with him the guilt of not being there to protect the one person who meant everything to him. He has buried his wife, but his heart refuses to accept that the body six feet under is hers. His obsessive search for her leads him deep into the trenches of covert ops—and everything is not what it seems. Caitlin Kincaid has been on the run for a while. The sum of her memories began three years ago when she awakened with a broken arm and leg and a severe concussion. Hunted down by a secret group within the U.S. government, her companion persuades her to stay off the grid because of the standing kill order on their heads. One night, while fleeing assassins, she is left on the side of the road with a cryptic message: “It’s time for you to stop running. I’m not the one you love.” When Travis receives news that the woman who has turned up at the American Embassy in Berlin could be his wife, he wastes no time getting to her. He is unprepared for the devastation that shreds him when Caitlin looks at him with no recognition in her eyes. Amnesia is a challenging enough obstacle for winning the love of his life back. But with lies defining the past three years of her life, Caitlin becomes wary of anyone’s help. Love was never the problem. A marriage cannot survive without trust. As sinister forces threaten the bond they are trying to rebuild, trust must come quickly or one of them will die. * Strong sexual content and language. Disturbing situations. It’s Always Been You Review Travis Blake is a former Navy Seal who has never given up the hope that the badly burned body from a car wreck three years ago was not his beloved wife, Sarah while he was deployed. Since leaving the military, Travis has opened up his own private security company which conveniently helps him to continue his desperate search for his wife. One phone call from the American Embassy in Berlin changes everything; they think they have found his wife, alive. Travis’s journey begins when he goes to see if this is truly Sarah. But Sarah has changed; she believes herself to be Caitlin and due to amnesia, she only remembers the last three years of her life with his lover, Jase. As Sarah/Caitlin’s story begins to unfold she discovers that she has been working in the CIA with Jase. They have been on the run from the Russian Mob because of the one specialized skill Caitlin has; she’s a hacker. Trying to return to their former lives, the readers follow Caitlin’s and Travis’s journey to rebuild their relationship and survive those now that still want information that only Caitlin can retrieve. It’s Always Been You was a good read. There was a lot of action and suspense intertwined with Caitlin’s and Travis’s story about rediscovering love. The story follows Caitlin as bad people are still after her either trying to kill her and get secret codes to nuclear weapons that only she can get. Travis is trying to deal with this big change in his life, while guarding his wife to keep her safe and alive. Throw in the mix that Travis is one foul-mouthed dirty talker which leads to some HOTT love scenes. I will say, Travis was very over-protective, to the point I felt of being almost obsessive-controlling. It is possible that Travis’s character was intended to be written as such that the readers understand his undying love and protectiveness for the women he is not going to let go without a fight but I still felt in was a little extreme in some cases. The story line was good and kept my interest and I really did enjoy watching Caitlin fall in love with Travis all over again resulting in their happy ending. 4 Stars Meet Victoria Paige I work as a freelance database administrator, and when I’m not geeking out, I write romantic suspense novels. I live in Richmond, Va—less than two hours away from Washington DC—so most of the settings of my books are in the nation’s capital—of course, I’m not averse to creating fictional towns and cities. ;) When I’m not arguing with the alpha male characters in my head, I love to watch high-octane action movies. I think Jack Bauer is the shit, which is why most of my characters are such badasses bent on saving the world from evil doers. I love reading adult contemporary, paranormal, urban fantasy, historical, romantic suspense, and a few new adult fiction as well as military non-fiction. I doubted she had time to even look through all of them, let alone watch them. I tried to stop glancing at her ankle. The swelling went down a little, but it was turning purple and blue. I wished she would get it checked it out, but she wasn't going to do that. I listened to her tap away at the keyboard and finally settled on a Batman movie. She clicked and typed away, texting on her phone and going through files of papers. Since I've seen this movie a hundred times, I got restless and took the time to swap out Kallie's "ice pack". I put the broccoli back in the freezer and brought in a bag of carrots. She thanked me and I nodded back in response. We didn't have much to say to each other. Most of the long drive up here was in silence. I had so much I wanted to say, but didn't want to at the same time. I walked around the apartment, giving myself a tour. It was modern with lots of black and white, clean lines and minimal decoration. It had an open and modern style to it. The only photos on the wall were black and white landscapes. She didn't even have any photos of friends or family hanging. Scarlett's room was plastered with candid photos and little souvenirs. Kallie had nothing. The sun was starting to set and I approached the windows that spanned the entire wall facing Lake Erie. The apartment was on the top floor, giving a clear view of the lake and some city lights. I stood, staring at the water as far as you could see, tinted with purple and pink. I turned back around when I heard movement to find Kallie standing by the couch. "Wow," Kallie said with wide eyes, looking over the same sunset I was. "You live here. You've probably seen it a thousand times," I laughed. "I haven't," she admitted in a small voice. "I never pay attention." I shook my head at her. "Well, you've been busy." I didn't hide the hardness in my voice. "I hate it here," she said in a dead voice that scared me a little. "I hate it all. It kills me. It eats me alive and sucks the life out of me. I have nothing left. I lost you, lost my mind." If it weren’t for the trembling I could see in her body, I would have seen no emotion. Her voice was calm and her face was neutral. In a swift movement, she bent and flipped the coffee table over. Glass shattered everywhere. She stepped over the broken shards and swiped the photos off the wall. They fell to the floor breaking before she moved over to the built-in entertainment stand. When she started to rip cords out of the wall, I broke out of my frozen state and rushed to her. Grabbing her arms from behind, I lifted her off the ground. Kallie kicked and squirmed in my arms as I backed us into the kitchen. "Kallie, calm down," I said in her ear. She snapped and I wasn't sure how to get her back. I wasn't sure if there was anything that could be said to make it better. She was right, in a way. She lived a different life, one that I wasn't convinced she wanted or fit into. I held my arms around her body, keeping her feet off the ground until she grew tired and went limp. She was still shaking and started to cry. I sank down to my knees, taking her with me and situating her in my lap. Part of me knew I shouldn't be comforting her when she was so upset and vulnerable, but I couldn't just let her breakdown alone. I promised we could be friends and this is what a friend would do. Although, I am sure Scarlett would be better in this situation. Kallie's body stopped convulsing and a little while later, she stopped crying and sniffled a few times. Her wet blue eyes looked up at me and I swear my heart ripped in half. I hated seeing her hurt. She gave me a sad smile before pushing off of me and she scooted a few feet away on the floor. "I'm sorry," she mumbled while wiping the tears off her face. "It's okay." It's not. "I never meant for all this to happen," she gestured around her. "I never meant to ignore you. I never meant to make you think that I didn't love you." I swallowed the lump in my throat. I shook my head at her and closed my eyes. I wanted to believer her more than anything. She probably even believed herself, but I couldn't risk that she wouldn't hurt me like that again. After being deemed not good enough for my own mother, I never allowed myself to rely on someone else's love and approval again. Until Kallie. We sat in silence on the tile floor. She didn't apologize again and I didn't have to push her away again. I wondered how we would get through the upcoming weeks and play nice for the wedding. It was becoming obvious that both us wanted what we had, but going back to that wasn't as easy as it sounded. A knock came at the door and Kallie called for them to come in. The door opened and Kallie's Dad Junior stood in the doorway, taking in the sight of the trashed living room. "What happened here? Are you okay?" he asked as he rushed over to Kallie's side. "It's fine," she said, brushing him off and glaring until he backed away. She used the counter to pull herself up. "I lost my temper." "What did you do to her?" he growled at me. I raised my eyebrows, almost impressed. Yesterday, this guy looked like he couldn't get aggressive with a kitten. He seemed genuinely pissed at me now. "I didn't do shit," I said in a warning voice as I stood up. "Ivan," Kallie said, to get his attention. When he looked at her, she limped into the living room, moved a chunk of glass from the table and handed him a thick file. "Pandora and Gala." "Why are you limping?" he asked her. "I hurt my ankle yesterday. Here are all the contracts. I sent you the electronic copies as well. The product list and pricing is in here. Here are all the Gala plans I have so far. It's pretty much done already. I suggest Amanda to finish this up. She's pretty creative and planned the Christmas party. She's good." Ivan held the files in his hands and stared blankly at her. Kallie stood up straight and didn't retract her arm when he made no effort to take the work. She looked completely serious, and it was sexy as hell. The prick finally sighed and accepted the papers. "Kallie, I can't do all this without you," he whispered, probably hoping I didn't hear. We both waited for her response in suspense. I wanted to shove him out the door and tell him fuck off, but I needed her to do that. She had to make the choice. This was her chance to give in and stay where she was, or stand her ground and tell him no. Kallie needed to do it for herself, not for me and not for Ivan. I never wanted for her to turn her back on her family and life for me. I wanted her to be happy and to do what it took to get there. When she fell into her old ways, I wasn't upset just because she basically forgot about me. I was upset because I knew she was doing something she didn't want to. "Yes, you can," she finally told him. "Amanda will do great with the planning. Pandora is pretty much in the bag. My dad hired you for a reason." "He wanted you," he insisted, almost sounding pitiful. "I'm family. He hired you because of your skills, education and all that," she explained gently. "You'll do fine." She sounded so sure, so confident. I realized that although this guy looked like a pansy, he was educated and had a future ahead of me. He probably went to a fancy college like Kallie did. I had my diploma and a future in car repair, if I'm lucky, classic restoration. Ivan already had her father's approval. I paled in comparison to him, but she still wanted me. "You sure you're okay?" he asked her, like it was secret. He probably thought I was holding her against her will. "I'm fine," she huffed. "I just can't do this anymore. Any of it. I want to go my own way. I need to." He nodded. "Good for you." Ivan turned and walked to the door, pausing before pulling it open. He looked right at me before saying, "Take care of her." With that, he walked out the door and left us alone. I stared at Kallie, taking in her calm and strong composure. She meant what she said, I was never so proud of her. I just hoped she stayed strong enough. I doubted they would let her go so easy. I was the only idiot that would let her go without a fight. I crossed the distance between us in just a few steps. Kallie's blue eyes locked on mine as I cupped her checks and leaned down to press a hard kiss to her lips. Her tongue quickly slipped between my lips and I closed my teeth on it gently. Pulling away, I dragged my teeth on her tongue, pulling a deep moan from her. My blood caught on fire and I gripped the back of her head, pulling her closer. Her body pressed against mine, instantly driving the want of feeling her skin on mine. I grabbed her hips and slammed myself into her, letting her feel how much I needed this. She grabbed my shoulders and dug her nails into my skin. My hands slid down to her thighs and lifted. She wrapped her legs around me as I spun to set her on the counter. I kissed her frantically while rubbing up her stomach and under her shirt, grazing the underwire of her bra. When she tugged at the hem of my shirt, I backed away to let her pull it over my head. Once topless, my lips and tongue continued running over the tender skin of her neck. Her breathing was quick and I could feel her chest meeting mine with every pant. Kallie was as frantic as I was. Her moans filled my ears and I couldn't feel close enough to her. "Bedroom," she panted against my neck, leaving a trail of heat behind her breath.

I plaster my back against the wall and, slowly, pull on the string. The blinds are on the opposite side from the string, and they are almost all the way to me when a face appears on the other side of the glass next to me. âAaaaeeee!â I scream out, hands flailing, ducking down and throwing my hands over my head. âRee,â he says seriously; his voice muffled through the glass, âOpen the damn door.â I lift my head and look up at him through the window, âNo.â Iâm pretty proud of the fact that my voice comes out strong and defiant, despite the fact that I totally freaked out. âRee.â âNo!â I stand up and put my hands on my hips. âYou canât make me.â I grab the string and close the blinds the rest of the way, then go back to my desk, sit down and decide to get back to work. It is the first book in the Shattering the Darkness Series. I'm crazy and love my friends, family and booze. I used to never read when I was growing up. My mother always tried to get me to read and I wanted no part in it. I figured why read when it's going to be a movie? (Yes, like I said crazy.) Well a few years ago I jumped on the Twilight band wagon. I've always loved supernatural movies and when I saw the previews I knew I wanted to see it. And see it I did. I immediately went out and bought the books and became hooked. They came to me at a very special time in my life. I discovered I loved to read and found my nitch in the paranormal and romance genre. I started a book club with a cousin and all of a sudden these thoughts kept assaulting my brain. So I wrote them down. Then, deciding that I wanted to write, I contacted some wonderfully amazing women who helped me through the process. I now have three books under my belt and am still learning constantly. My Life Series, is by far my favorite to write. There are some events in the story that are based on actual events that have happened in my life. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed living them. HOSTED BY: |
