“I’ll wait forever, sunshine. I loved you then. I love you now. I’ll always love you.”
Travis Blake is a former Navy Seal who has never given up the hope that the badly burned body from a car wreck three years ago was not his beloved wife, Sarah while he was deployed. Since leaving the military, Travis has opened up his own private security company which conveniently helps him to continue his desperate search for his wife. One phone call from the American Embassy in Berlin changes everything; they think they have found his wife, alive. Travis’s journey begins when he goes to see if this is truly Sarah. But Sarah has changed; she believes herself to be Caitlin and due to amnesia, she only remembers the last three years of her life with his lover, Jase. As Sarah/Caitlin’s story begins to unfold she discovers that she has been working in the CIA with Jase. They have been on the run from the Russian Mob because of the one specialized skill Caitlin has; she’s a hacker. Trying to return to their former lives, the readers follow Caitlin’s and Travis’s journey to rebuild their relationship and survive those now that still want information that only Caitlin can retrieve.
It’s Always Been You was a good read. There was a lot of action and suspense intertwined with Caitlin’s and Travis’s story about rediscovering love. The story follows Caitlin as bad people are still after her either trying to kill her and get secret codes to nuclear weapons that only she can get. Travis is trying to deal with this big change in his life, while guarding his wife to keep her safe and alive. Throw in the mix that Travis is one foul-mouthed dirty talker which leads to some HOTT love scenes. I will say, Travis was very over-protective, to the point I felt of being almost obsessive-controlling. It is possible that Travis’s character was intended to be written as such that the readers understand his undying love and protectiveness for the women he is not going to let go without a fight but I still felt in was a little extreme in some cases. The story line was good and kept my interest and I really did enjoy watching Caitlin fall in love with Travis all over again resulting in their happy ending.
