That’s Adaline Wilder for me.
Nothing came before football. Not in college, and not in my five years in the pros. All I wanted was to win games, win a championship, carve my own path out of the illustrious Ward family football legacy. And I’ve done all that. But something is missing.
I’ve never been wrong about what I want. Except with her.
She moved on to someone else, but that baseball playing moron just broke her heart. I don’t blame her for not trusting me, but even Adaline can’t deny the heat when we’re together.
I have one shot at winning her back. And I intend to take it.

The Crush is somewhat of a second chance at love romance. When professional football player Emmett Ward is at the hospital after a teammate is seriously injured, he realizes that the only people he would have to support him would be his family; he realizes that he is missing out on companionship and a significant person that cares about him. At this time, he thinks about when his family friend Adaline shared her crush with him right before he was drafted. At the time, he has too much going on in his life for a relationship so he turned her down when she suggested they explore a relationship. Now 7 years later, being secure in his career and life, he is wishing that he hadn't turned Adaline down. Emmett decides that she is the one for him and goes about getting her full tilt. Adaline has just gotten out of a serious relationship with a selfish professional athlete and has sworn off athletes altogether until Emmett busts his way into her life. Even though the two have off-the-charts chemistry, the timing is just not right for them. They live across the US from each other and Adaline doesn't want to leave her job or family.
What begins as an off and on again friends with benefits turns into more when Emmett and Adaline throw caught in the wind and decide to go all in with a relationship.
The chemistry between Emmett and Adaline is HOT! When they came together, there was a fire. The story was realistic as it was two people trying to get to know each other and life just keep throwing them curve balls. Everything didn't work out perfectly at the beginning but they didn't give up. The Crush is a stand-alone book but both characters have made appearances in other Karla Sorensen books. Great book and definitely recommend.
