Cassandra Cline took one night off from her structured life. One. And now her wild fling with the local bad boy has turned her life sideways. Her dreams and academic career are circling the drain, and none of it would have happened if she’d stayed far, far away from Leo.
Except avoiding him is impossible, especially when she’s forced to move home to Clifton Forge, Montana. And he refuses to leave her side when a series of strange accidents put her and their baby at risk. But are they accidents? Or is she standing in the middle of a battlefield she doesn’t understand?
Her only allies are people she barely knows. And a man who has the potential to steal her heart.
If only he’d stop playing the fool.
Fallen Jester is Leo's and Cass's story. At the end of the previous book, we find out that Cass is pregnant from one night where she wanted to throw caution to the wind, wanting to be spontaneous college student with Leo. Leo thought their night was amazing, even nicknaming Cass "Firecracker". But fireworks really exploded when Cass informs Leo she is pregnant and he is the father. Leo is not prepared to be a father-his character is more of a man-child. He treats Cass horrible but then comes around to the idea of being a father and treating his child's mother with respect. Soon Cass and Leo find theirs ways navigating what their relationship looks like and what each other expects from one- another.
Leo is not my favorite character of this series. He really treats Cass horrible and it took him along time to get his act together. He was a real jerk to put it lightly and I had a hard time empathizing with him. On the other hand, I adored Cass. She was a strong woman and she knew what she had to do to give her child the best life possible with or without Leo. She wasn't afraid to put Leo in his place but I did think she might have been a little to forgiving.
Fallen Jester was also a little different than the previous books as I thought it concentrated more on Leo's and Cass's characters navigating their relationship.
