shouldn't have agreed to this. What was I thinking?
Appearing on a local news show? Just because something happened to me?
I live mostly in isolation on purpose.
But here I am.
I was so nervous that I needed the make-up chair, twice.
And then I walked past his room.
He's a giant—no softness, all muscle.
And a rich beard that made me want to rub myself all over it.
He made me see stars, literally because the second time I saw him, I tripped.
Or I would've, but he caught me, and the cameras were rolling.
Soon, that clip will be trending because he wasn't just another guest on the show.
He's Brett Broudou, the Kings' newest football star.
We couldn't be more opposite.
The only special thing about me is the reason I was on the show.
Brett, the Super Bowl champion, and me, the survivor who helped bring down the infamous Midwest Butcher.
Brett might not think he's anyone's hero, but he's about to become mine.

Billie Harm is the only survivor of a serial killer. Not only did she survive, she helped to put him behind bars. She has stayed isolated and hidden to avoid the unnecessary attention that comes with being the survivor of the Midwest Butcher but has decided to do a TV interview where she literally falls into professional football legend Brett Brodou. The moment he sets eyes on her, he knows she has to be his. Billie and Brett must navigate the trauma both had experienced as well as deal with a new problem; there is a copycat killer and his target is Billie. My Anti-Hero is the story of Billie's and Brett's relationship and the obstacles that keep getting constantly thrown at them.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I overall enjoyed the story but I had a hard time connecting to some of the characters. Brett would do something caring and wonderful for his family or Billie and then in the next instance, do a complete 360 and almost turn into a completely different person personality-wise. His behavior almost gave me whiplash. I really liked Billie's character as she was resilient, hard-working, and such a caring person in spite of all she has gone through in her life, thus far. She would hold her head up high and deal with whatever was thrown her way. I also struggled with the big climatic scene at the end of the book. I had a hard time following the reasoning and why things happened the way they did. I still liked the book.
