AMI LECOEUR

Like most romance writers, Ami LeCoeur is a romantic at heart, but in her heart it's the classic Romanticism of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.

She is also a painter, glass artist, and award winning poet, as well as a writer.

When she isn't traveling, she lives on California's Redwood Coast with her husband and two kitties. She loves her wonderful ocean view, and when the fog comes in - as it always does - she's either curled up with a good book, or busy writing.

If you like Ami's stories, please let your friends know.

ELLE DAWSON

Sharing ones thoughts on paper is an intimate experience, and should not be taken lightly. Some days I fear this process, as my mind can be a scary place to dwell. Other days I realize I’m not alone in this journey, and although the very action of expelling ones deepest thoughts onto paper is intensely personal, it is deeply healing. Funny how that works.

The ideas for my books came at a time when I was hurting, and needed a release that only writing could bring. As a romance lover, I couldn’t make myself write of new love, when it is easy to be in love, easy to be mad for each other, easy to have sex every night. Instead, I found a need inside me to re-connect couples, to shine a light of inspiration into a bedroom that has grown cold.

So I will continue to write as Elle Dawson, and be a mom, sister, daughter and friend in my real life. And read books that take me away or speed up my heart.

Can they move forward together, without the buffer of the fence?
Or will their pasts prove to be too much of a barrier?
My Review

Over the Fence by Melanie Moreland is the story about Nathan and Kourtney, two anti-social adults keeping their heads down and just existing until they met each other.  Nathan has a troubled past.  He no longer has contact with his family.  Besides going to his IT job, he hides in his house in suburbia behind a modified extra-tall privacy fence, drinking too much, and only socializing a little when some fellow workers come over to watch football on occasion.  Kourtney had just moved in next door to Nathan.  Nathan , anything but a cook, smells the delicious food Kourtney is cooking on her grill in the backyard comments how wonderful it smells.  Kourtney leaves a plate for Nathan on the top of the privacy fence and a friendship is born.  As becomes habit, Kourtney, or Chef Girl to Nathan, cooks dinner for Nathan and leaves him a plate.  Kourtney and Nathan begin a friendship and soon turns into more when Nathan rushes over to protect Kourtney when he over-hears an argument at her house.
Over the Fence was a good solid story.  We find out that both Nathan and Kourtney both have baggage the are both dealing with but when the move beyond friendship, that baggage gets a lot lighter.  The story was a sweet, love story between two people that have been beaten down in different ways.  We find out what Nathan is hiding from behind his tall privacy fence as well as why Kourtney thinks very little of herself.  The story started off interested and continued to grow on my the further I got into Nathan and Kourtney's developing relationship.

About the Author

Melanie Moreland lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her husband and four children. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works for the sporting teams of a local university. Her (box) office job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory. While seriously addicted to coffee, and somewhat challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties and socialize, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie delights in writing a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative story lines to her even more inspired tales, for all to enjoy.

Synopsis

We all have secrets.

Dominic promised me a life in the light when he said “I do.” After spending months as his prisoner, chained to his bed, and beholden to his every desire, he promised me a lifetime spent making it up to me, proving how sorry he was.

Secrets have the power to tear us apart.

As things from our past continued to be revealed, Dominic was harboring secrets of his own—descending further into the darkness. Except, this time I wasn’t welcomed into the shadows with him.

The man who slept in my bed and looked like my husband had become nothing more than an apparition of the man I fell for, and I feared the day I would wake to find even the ghost of him missing. Dominic had already captured me, body and heart. Could I afford to lose my soul, too? I had a choice to make—I could stay and risk losing myself in him completely, or go and save myself the heartache of his inevitable fall. What choice would you make?

Excerpt

“Wait! Dominic! Where are you going? You can’t leave me here!” I yelled to his back, but it was like shouting at a wall. Dominic was absorbed by the night as he walked farther and farther, without so much as a backwards glance to remind him of what he left behind. He just left me there while I continued shouting my outrage at his back.

“Don’t leave me! You can’t leave me here,” I continued mumbling incoherently through the shower of tears that drenched me in all of the anger and hurt. Dominic abandoned me. On purpose. He said he would never leave me and he left. I never even thought it was a possibility, but he did it. He proved that I couldn’t trust him. That every niggling doubt, every sheltered secret I knew he carried, all of it—it wasn’t a figment of my imagination. It wasn’t “Dominic’s way.” It was a part of Dominic. It wasn’t a choice he made, but as inherent as those devastating brown eyes and lickable lips. This was Dominic’s character flaw, among many.

I didn’t know how long he left me there—five, ten, fifteen minutes. It didn’t matter. Whatever the reason didn’t matter either, whether he could see it or not, something was breaking between us.

The ropes slid down the tree as my knees gave out. Dangling between those trees I cried for the girl I was, for the girl I’d lost to him, but more for the girl who couldn’t bridge this chasm with all the wood in the world. My face felt puffy and limp, and my body filled with a cold chill that had little to do with being naked in the middle of the forest. The air was balmy with a slight breeze—a perfect night to watch the flicker of new and old stars, to wish on comets bursting across the sky, and contemplate our insignificance in the universe.

Well I had the insignificance bit down.

The sound of crumpling leaves alerted me that I was no longer alone. I looked up to see all six foot two of him, his shirt now gone, showing clean lines of muscles rippling his arms and stomach, despite the inverted “Y” down the center of his upper chest and stomach. Dominic’s body was now as scarred as his insides. I found it appropriate, given the situation.

“Rise.” It wasn’t a question or a statement. This was a command, and it was said as such. I balanced my weight on my right side as I untangled my limbs and hobbled until I was standing upright.

When I rose to a height he found acceptable, he moved in closer. So close my flesh accepted his body heat as its own. He looked formidable standing before me, rippling with a tension that made the vein by his temple tick. I followed the tense muscles down his arms and found there in his hand a pair of shears, looking like something from my nightmares.

It was in the reflection of those scissors that I saw him. The man who kidnapped me and deemed me his property with no thought as to my emotions or needs. When I looked from tree to tree, focusing on the rope pulled taut from my struggles, I realized this was what I could come to expect from the monster that Dominic kept contained. This was what he did when he was losing control of his emotions, but how could I help him when I didn’t know what plagued him?

“D-Dominic?”

I wanted to rewind time, wanted to go back to the moment when he returned home last night. Maybe I should have spent more time talking with him. Not that it would have changed anything. Dominic only told me what he wanted me to know—nothing more—but I could have tried. There was something happening with him, but how do you help someone who doesn’t want help?

My knees shook like a dying carburetor, sputtering before I collapsed. Bits of loose rock dug into my skin, making me wince at the pressure. The rope pooled on either side of me, snaking loosely around my already limp body. Dominic crouched down until he was almost eye-level with me.

“Stop. No, Dominic.”

“Where did my little spitfire go? Do I need to find her again?”

“I’m not the same girl you took, Dominic.”

“Prove it,” he said with a smirk that made me want to smother his face in the dirt.

He dropped the scissors and lifted me in his arms before moving between the trees to adjust the height of the ropes until I was once again dangling with arms spread out wide.

“No! No! Dominic,” I said while struggling within my confines and fighting back a fresh wave of tears. It was useless. I was perfectly held between his arms. Even if I wasn’t tied to the trees, I still wouldn’t be able to escape his hold. The most I could do was tell him I didn’t want him to touch me and hope that he would be angry enough not to force the issue.

“No? No? Hailey, in all of the time you’ve known me, when has you telling me no ever worked? Did you really think it would work now?” he whispered.

Never. That was the answer he expected to hear. Never. Because for the longest time my voice was silenced by his needs and wants. I was a victim, a prisoner—my concerns went unnoticed. As long as I was healthy and followed the rules, everything was fine.

“Things are different now.” I tilted my head over my right shoulder to meet his eyes. All I saw was emptiness. His eyes were shadowed in the darkness of night, leaving two pits of black that made him look soulless.

“Are they?”

He picked up the scissors and moved closer. I fell as far back as the ropes allowed in my attempt to escape him, scrambled around until my legs felt pretzled in their contortion. When there was nowhere else for me to go, the edge of the scissors whispered across my breasts. The cold, menacing metal stretched the length of my chest, gleaming with purpose.

“Look at me.”

When I made no attempt to move, he grabbed a fistful of my hair—the roots snapping against my scalp with the strain, and yanked me back until the only thing I could focus on was him. Those wild brown eyes, rich with promise of frightening delight, sparkled in the moonlight. The cold of the metal licked my skin as he moved the scissors closer to my right breast. His eyes stayed locked on mine with the first snip. The loud clamp of the scissors cutting, mixed with the ease at which it cut through the strap, startled me.

“Don’t move, baby.” He groaned. He threw the strap of the bra back over my shoulder and out of the way as his mouth descended. The pathetic excuse of fabric dropped, leaving me exposed to his assault.

She’s stuck in a rut, stuck in life and stuck in an elevator with Hollywood’s hottest actor. And of course she’s just come from the gym. Claire Parelli just can’t seem to catch a break, well, except for heartbreak, that is. After a lifetime of following the rules, she winds up heartbroken, unfulfilled, and hiding from life. But she can’t hide for long. After getting stuck aboard a broken elevator with Hollywood It-Boy, Daniel Chase, they begin a secret romance that pries Claire out of her element, out of her shell, and out of her sweatpants. But when their romance accidentally goes public, Claire’s life implodes, leaving her to choose to hunker down in the safety of her sweatpants, or risk her fragile heart on a chance at life, love, and the pursuit of better clothing.

He nods. “Fair enough. So . . . when might I see you again?”

See me again? With a cautiously optimistic smile, I say, “You’re the one flying across the country. You tell me.”

“Well, I leave for L.A. after some meetings tomorrow, and my schedule is insane this week, but I believe I have a couple of days off at some point coming up in the next couple of weeks. I forget the exact dates. Anyway, maybe we’ll see each other then?”

“But you’ll be in L.A.”

“It’s not that far by plane.”

I shake my head. “I can’t call out of work.” I won’t blow off work to take a trip. Not for a guy. I’m smarter than that.

He nods. “Maybe I’ll fly back, then.”

My heart launches into my throat. “You’d fly back to see me? You must have a million girls at your disposal on the West Coast.” I’m teasing—sort of.

“True . . . but I’m running out.”

I laugh, enjoying how quickly he can make me laugh. “Oh, so I guess it’s time to move on to the East Coast women?”

He peers down at me through his long lashes, his full lips tugged up on one side. “Or woman.”

My heart flips and flops in my throat, but I won’t let myself buy it. “ ‘Woman,’ huh?”

He rolls his eyes. “Claire, really, how many women’s bedrooms do you think I just hang around in?”

I raise a “do you really want an answer?” eyebrow.

He shakes his head and chuckles. “For your information, if I was merely here for one thing, I’d have had you undressed long ago.”

I raise my eyebrows, smiling. “You think so, huh?”

“Yes, I do. I’m just . . . too polite.”

“Too polite?” I nearly bust out laughing.

“Or maybe I’m just an idiot.”

We both burst into laughter, releasing the tension in the room, and that’s when our eyes lock, speaking the same language, craving the same thing. The atmosphere shifts once again, this time instantly growing tight and thick with heat.

My Review

Oh, my,......Pepper Winter did not disappoint with her 5th novel of the Indebted series, Fourth Debt.  This 5th book of the series picks up where the 4th book, Third Debt left off.  Cut had tried to shoot Jasmine and Jethro throw himself in front of her to save her life; he is now dead also with brother Kes.  Nila is in the middle of a break-down realizing her lover is dead while her twin brother Vaughn witnesses all the madness at Hawk Manor.  Now begins what continues to be a fight all throughout the book: who is now in charge of Nilla, Jasmine now being the oldest or Daniel being the only remaining male Hawk son.  At this moment Nila vows to get revenge on the rest of the living Hawk family.  She finds in herself a strength to survive whatever torture the remaining Hawks will bestow upon her while she plots the perfect murder for Bonnie, Cut, Daniel, and Jasmine.

Throughout Fourth Debt, Nilla was given more information, history, and background regarding the female Weavers, her relative including her mother.  Nila soon realizes that quite possibly what she thought she and Jethro had may have been a farce and that she still might end-up like her mother.  Just when you thought all your questions would be answered in Fourth Debt, new ones developed.  I thought the book progressed quickly coming up to- you guessed it, a cliff hanger (Fifth Debt will be the final of the Indebted series by the way).  This book was beyond words.....simply stated, it was amazing.  I loved at the end of this book, the readers were treated from a character from another one of Pepper's book BUT, I am not going to tell you who!  Pepper  warns at the beginning of Fourth Debt, "It is sexy, it is twisty, there's colour as well as darkness, but it's a rollercoaster not a carrousel."  And my oh my, did she deliver one heck of a ride.

FUNNY HOW LIFE plays practical jokes.

The past few days—that had to be a fucking joke, right?

No logical answer would make sense of what I’d seen, heard, and lived the past seventy-two hours.

My sister.

My best friend and twin.

This was what she’d been living with? This was how she’d been treated?

This was what she wanted to return to?

Motherfucking why? Why would she ever want to return to this insanity?

We’d been raised in a broken home, chained to an empire that absorbed us right from birth. But we were kept safe, warm, and loved. We grew up together. We shared everything.

But now…I had no fucking clue who my sister was.

But then she came to me.

A woman I never knew existed.

The most stunning creature I’d ever seen.

Only she didn’t come to me on feet or wings of an angel. She rolled into my life and demanded my help.

And for better or for worse…

I helped her.

Picture
“LET ME GO!” Daniel cackled like a mad hyena, his fingers stabbing into my bicep. Without breaking his stride, he stole me further away from the parlour and into the bowels of the house.

I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to go anywhere with him.

“Take me back!”

He can’t be dead!

Just because he lay unmoving and bloody didn’t mean he was gone.

That’s exactly what it means.

I shook my head, dislodging those awful thoughts. He’s alive. He had to be.

I couldn’t tolerate any other answer. I refused to live in a world where evil triumphed over good. That wasn’t right—life couldn’t be that cruel.

It’s always been that way.

My mind filled with images of my mother. My father’s desolation. My broken childhood. Evil had puppeteered us from day one. Why should now be any different?

He’s not dead!

I swallowed a sob.

Please don’t be dead…

I fought harder. “Let me see him. You can’t do this!”

Daniel cackled louder. “Keep begging, Weaver. Won’t do you any good.”

He’s not dead!

I locked my knees, fighting him every step. “Stop!” Looking back the way we’d come, the door to the parlour seemed so far away—a bright beacon at the end of a festering corridor. “They were your brothers, you insane psychopath. Don’t you feel anything?!”

Please let me go to him. He has to be alive…

Please let my twin stay alive…

Let all of this be a nightmare!

I couldn’t cope with Jethro murdered; I’d go clinically insane if they killed V, too.

“I feel relief. I no longer have to put up with their simpering bullshit.” He flashed his teeth. “Cut did us all a favour.”

Cut will die.

He was evil incarnate. He deserved to die in excruciatingly painful ways.

I refuse to believe they’re dead.

“I said stop!” I wriggled harder, only succeeding in Daniel’s fingers tearing into my flesh. Goosebumps covered my skin while ice steadily froze my veins. Every second was endless torture. I couldn’t live without Jethro.

It can’t end like this!

“You won’t win, Weaver.” Daniel tugged harder. “Accept what’s fucking happened and obey me.”

Maegan despises writing about herself in the third person. She also hates touting her accomplishments like she thinks she’s really done anything special…

Now that we got that out of the way, I’ll tell you what you need to know. I was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I went back to school in my late twenties and studied Stage Production Technology. I now work full-time in the alterations shop of a major department store and part-time backstage in the various theatres around the area.

I’ve been an avid reader from a very young age and the top goal on my list of things to accomplish in my life was to write and publish a book. During the summer of 2013, while working backstage on The Lion King, I read eleven books in four weeks. I read my first New Adult book and was introduced to a genre I felt I could totally relate to. The idea for Perfectly Broken and the character of Lili was born backstage during that time. Author Links

Publisher: Limitless Publishing

Synopsis

"When the embers of pain transform into passion." After a terrible start in life, Asher Harris picks himself up and manages to carve out a fairly decent future. Content with living alone in his bookshop, he shies away from relationships and keeps trust to a minimum.
Emma Carnes hasn’t seen Asher in years, though she’s never forgotten him. Their one interaction as teenagers became pivotal to them both. It gave her a career.
It saved his life.
Taking small steps, hoping to get him to open up, Emma finds Asher’s emotional walls hard to climb. He is far from receptive to her gentle persuasion, even when she seeks his help with a wounded child from the shelter she works in.
Emma sees the parallels between him and Asher, and tries to replicate the past. However, as she takes tentative steps with both of them, someone is taking steps toward her. Watching her for a pattern. Watching her to find out what she knows.
They each battle to stay together to keep what they’ve fought so hard to gain, will a cruel twist of fate finally show Asher what he could lose? Could it be too late to save the one person in life he trusts?

Excerpt

Asher nodded. They both sat down on the cushions, staring out at the horizon. The sunset had the sky turning a brilliant orange, with waves of pink rippling across the sky. Emma leaned back on her hands, her fingertips touching Asher’s. He turned his face, watching her while she looked at the sky. Colour bloomed in her cheeks and he could see her throat constrict as she swallowed. “I know you’re watching me,” she said softly.
“Sorry.”
She faced him. “Will you stop apologising? This is so thoughtful.”
He scanned the roof. Besides the blanket and cushions, he’d brought up a projector, hoping they could watch a film when the sun went down. He planned to play it against the far wall. It wouldn’t be the greatest image but it would be good enough. There was a small basket next to the projector; he’d brought up some wine, chocolate treats and popcorn. Inside were also a few menus for local takeaways.
When he’d set everything out, the idea had been much more romantic. That was why he’d placed tiny candles around the roof. He’d hoped Emma wouldn’t see it as a cop out.
“Are you sure?” He pulled the menus from the basket. “You get to choose.”
She looked at him through hooded eyes, taking her bottom lip between her teeth. The woman had his knees quaking…and he was sitting down. She’d appeared in his life out of nowhere, slid into his daily thoughts without invitation, and she was now consuming his dreams. He didn’t have a fucking clue how to deal with her. If he was being truthful to himself, right now he was flying by the seat of his pants and doing whatever entered his head. After setting the scene on the roof, he’d questioned whether it was too much? Too romantic? Or even not enough for a date, after all that’s what they had agreed to.
“How about Thai?” she asked, holding up a menu to one of his favourite places. “Perfect. I’ll order; you open the wine.”
Emma agreed, allowing him to take his phone with him as he walked to the edge of the roof. He dialled the restaurant and ordered a selection of dishes. He took a second to breathe, to gather himself again before he needed to get back to her.
The streetlights began to switch on, the little globes popping orange as they illuminated the pavements. The swell of people grew as they made their way to bars and clubs. The noise of their chatter echoed off the walls and up to his roof.
Tonight wasn’t the first time he’d been up here. In the summer he spent most nights listening to the conversations while he read a book. He felt far less lonely when he could pretend he was a part of it all. Rarely did he take Ben up on his offers to go out. On occasion he wondered why the hell the bloke stayed around. He wasn’t the easiest of friends to have.
