I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path—one guided by my fists and paved with pain.
Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that’s where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James—the one person I’d die to protect.
Even though I didn’t deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I’d lost, because she’d lost it too.
Liv was everything to me, but she was never truly mine.
That was going to change.
I lost my first love, but I refused to lose my soulmate.
Now, I’m on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.
Fighting to be the man she deserves.
Fighting the solitude of our pasts.
Fighting for her.
Fighting Solitude is Book 3 in Aly Martinez’s On the Ropes. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading Book 1 and Book 2 so you don’t miss out on any Page Brothers deliciousness. In Fighting Solitude, youngest Page brother Quarry is all grown-up. He is one of the hottest, young up and comers in the world of professional boxing. Alongside Quarry is his long-time best friend-Liv James. If you are familiar with the On the Ropes series and its parent series, Among the Echoes, Wreaked and Ruined, Liv is the daughter of Leo James, head of security and family friend of Slate Andrews. Liv and Quarry have been best-friends since live was 6 and Quarry was 10. Liv was always getting them into trouble and Quarry was always the one punished. Unfortunately, both Quarry and Liv experienced a heart-breaking event that changed their lives as young adults. Now, not really living in the present, both Liv and Quarry must decide if they want to start living again and if they want to take that journey together.
I have been waiting for this book to see where Aly was going to take Quarry’s character. Not only did I love his story line, I loved the fact that book was somewhat different than that of Till and Flint’s. Quarry has had success, he is rich, he had made it in the boxing world but he is still a broken man. When Quarry takes a closer look at his best-friend and begins to see her in a different light, the story just about exploded. Some of those things Quarry said to Liv, especially what he tells her at Christmas…..my ovaries exploded (several times). Also, when I read about Leo’s conversation with a teenage Quarry…wow. The Epilogue was beautiful and a perfect ending. Aly really did out-do herself with this book. It is amazing. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.
