Broody as they come.
I wasn’t always like that, I had love once, but it was ripped away in the blink of an eye.
Now all I want in life is to play the game I love and to be left alone.
Until I met the team’s new photographer.
I did my best to avoid her.
She was too young for me.
There was just something about her that called to me.
I’m not sure I can let go of my past, even if it means a future I never thought possible.

Damien is the first book I have read in Samantha Lind's San Francisco Shockwaves hockey themed series. I have fallen in love with this book and plan to go back and read the previous books. Damien is one of the oldest members of the Shockwaves team. He is considered broody by his teammates. He is strictly there to play hockey and keeps his interactions with the other players to a bare minimum. Damien has had some very traumatic things happen to him in the past, so he has kind-of shut down emotionally, that is until he sees the new social media coordinator Trinity. Trinity is the complete opposite of Damien; she is sunshine to his darkness. Damien feels himself come to life once again whenever he is in her presence and very attracted to her. Trinity sees a side to Damien that others don't. They begin a relationship and Trinity learns what it's like dating a professional athlete.
This book was steamy and fun to read. I enjoyed seeing how Damien's character changed throughout the story. He really was a nice guy, which was demonstrated over and over in the book. I liked this book so much, I plan to go back and read the previous 4 in the series.
