First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.
But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.
All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional . . . turns out, that’s easier said than done.
Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.
I tell myself it’s just this once.
Okay, twice.
All right, every night.
But it’s got to end–he’s fourteen years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep and mine are getting too big to hide.
Walking away is never simple but when I do, I can’t look back.
Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

I am in love with Corrinne's first book in the Whitlock family series. Asher Whitlock, single-hottie dad is in need of a nanny at the last minute for his 9-year-old daughter that knows ASL. Against his better judgment, his boss strong-arms him into hiring his 24-year-old daughter Phoebe, who is home for the summer from working on her graduate degree as an audiologist. Phoebe may think that Asher is fun to look at but that is where the fun ends when it comes to him. As the summer progresses, Asher and Phoebe begin to fight an attraction to each other but Asher knows he has to stay away from his boss's young daughter and his daughter's nanny. Phoebe knows she needs to stay away from Asher because she feels she has poor judgment in the "men" department and besides, Asher is kind of a jerk. But the pull is soon both too much for them and they find themselves agreeing to a summer fling because Phoebe is leaving to return to school in the fall and Asher doesn't do relationships. Oh, those feelings catch, but the unexpected news Phoebe receives threatens to derail on her the future she has planned for and the future that could be. This was a phenomenal book and beginning of this series. Asher was the grump (but with a sense of humor) that I couldn't help but fall for. And his dirty, dirty, mouth (insert big eyes here). I felt for what Phoebe was going through and how she was treated when she was the true victim. I loved seeing her bloom with Asher's support. She was amazing with his daughter and I loved it when she stood up for her. Corinne has created a beautiful story with her amazing words once again. I just loved this story!
